Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SocialOTT (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and related services (the “Service”). By using SocialOTT, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account data — email address, display name, password hash (if set), and plan status when you create or use an account.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, search queries, watchlist and watched actions stored locally or on our servers when signed in, ratings and comments you submit, and approximate device/browser information.
  • Technical data — IP address, cookies, local storage keys (for auth token and theme), and similar identifiers needed to operate and secure the Service.
  • Payment data — billing is processed by Stripe. We receive subscription status and related metadata; we do not store full card numbers on SocialOTT servers.

How we use information

  • Provide discovery, ratings, Social Buzz, and account features.
  • Authenticate users, prevent abuse, and moderate community content.
  • Process Premium subscriptions and customer support requests.
  • Improve product quality, measure performance, and (where permitted) show advertising on Free plans.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.

Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for essential functions (session auth, theme preference, cookie-consent choice). When advertising is enabled on Free plans, third parties—including Google—may place and read cookies or use web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads.

You can manage non-essential cookie consent through our on-site banner. Browser settings may also block or delete cookies; some features may not work without essential storage.

Advertising and Google AdSense

SocialOTT may display ads from Google AdSense (and Google advertising partners) to visitors on the Free plan. Premium subscribers are offered an ad-free experience as described on our pricing page.

Third parties, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect information as a result of ad serving on this site. That information may be used to personalize ads or measure their effectiveness, subject to your consent where required by law.

To learn how Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps, see How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps. You can also review Google’s ad settings at adssettings.google.com.

For visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we request consent for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising before enabling those technologies, consistent with applicable law and Google Publisher Policies.

Sharing of information

  • Service providers — hosting, email delivery, payment (Stripe), analytics, and advertising partners that process data on our behalf or as independent controllers for ads.
  • Legal — when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the Service.
  • We do not sell personal information as “sale” is commonly defined for money-only transfers. Some advertising technologies may constitute “sharing” under certain US state privacy laws; you can opt out of personalized ads via the cookie banner or Google ad settings.

Community content

Ratings and comments you post may be visible to other users. We moderate content that violates our Terms. Do not post personal data about others without permission.

Data retention

We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed for legitimate business, security, and legal purposes. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us.

International transfers

We may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

Children

SocialOTT is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the revised policy.
